Superfoods
You have heard of the term Superfoods, and probably wondering what does that word mean. Let me break it down for you.
According to health.com, superfoods are nutrient powerhouses that pack large doses of antioxidants, polyphenols, vitamins, and minerals. Eating them may reduce the risk of chronic disease, and prolong life.

According to Wolfe, cacao is considered a superfood because it is packed with the world’s best source of antioxidants, magnesium, iron, manganese and chromium. It comes in many forms including whole beans, nibs, powder and butter.
According to Dr. Mercola (2017) cacao powder contains 300 different chemical compounds and nearly four times the antioxidant power of average dark chocolate. It contains more than 20 times antioxidants than that of blueberries and contains protein, calcium, carotene, thiamine, riboflavin, magnesium, sulphur, flavonoids, antioxidants and essential fatty acids. These have incredible benefits throughout the body including lowered cholesterol LDL, improved heart function, and reduce cancer risk.
Based on the research, I would believe that Cacao is a superfood that has benefits to the body. However, it can be beneficial to some and not to others. Those who have delayed food allergies to the Cacao might not benefit from this superfood. It is wise to get tested for delay food allergies before consumption.
